- The Rolling Stone magazine named him the top guitarrist of the 100 best guitarrist all-time
- He was inducted in the US Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 1992
- In the UK Hall of fame was introduced in 2005
- He was part Cherokee, afro-american and european descendant
- His father changed his name to James Marshall Hendrix in memory of his late brother
- He acquired his first guitar at 15 for 5 bucks
- In 1961 he was forced to join the army because he had stolen two cars
- In 1969 he was arrested in canada because he had heroin and hashish in his possesion

- His last years was living in london in 23 Brook Street
- The building was right next door to a house once occupied by 18th-century composer George Frideric Handel
- There is two blue plaques about this coincidence in the brook street
- He was left-handed but used to play with a right-handed guitar (with the string in the inverse order) because he said it have as a result an unique sound
- he is member in the 27 club, with janis joplin, brian jones, jim morrison and kurt cobain
